Jim Sutton Institute of Guitar

The Jim Sutton Institute of Guitar was established in 1984.

Our goal is to help musicians whether they are beginner, intermediate, or advance player, to get the materials they need to help them move forward toward their aspirations.

It is necessary to build skills and knowledge, but we’d like to go further than just playing notes, or songs. The next step is to take that into creative expression. Follow that by taking  creative expression and landing in what is sometimes referred to as the pocket, or the zone. That is the real goal and the motivation behind JSIGuitar.

Correspondence Guitar Study

We have three main Course studies and numerous Supplementary Lessons. This allows us to pick up and help you move forward from wherever your current skill and knowledge level is set.

We have Questionnaire and Profile forms which help you evaluate which studies best fit you. We can help you with that as well if you like.

We can hold the flashlight and say “look this way”, but you need to start with the end goal in mind.
